GREG J. RYAN

For more than 40 years, Greg Ryan has been counseling clients on insurance claims and representing them in insurance coverage and bad faith litigation in California state and federal courts.  Mr. Ryan’s trial court and appellate experience is extensive.

Mr. Ryan provides coverage advice and representation on a broad variety of issues, including defense and indemnity under general liability policies, first party property claims, professional liability, disability, directors and officers, and construction coverage claims, including representation as independent coverage counsel.

Mr. Ryan is admitted to practice before all California State Courts, United States District Courts of California, United States District Court, Western District of Texas, the United States Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court.  Mr. Ryan has argued appeals before state and federal appellate courts obtaining published and unpublished appellate decisions.  (e.g. Van Ort v. Estate of Stanewich, 92 F.3d 831 (9th Cir.1996); Society of Lloyd’s v. Blackwell, et al.,127 Fed. Appx. 961 (9th Cir. 2005); McMillin Companies, LLC v. American Safety Indemnity Company (2015) 233 Cal.App.4th 518; McMillin Homes Construction, Inc. v. National Fire & Marine Ins. Co. (2019) 35 Cal.App.5th 1042.)

Mr. Ryan has an “AV Preeminent” rating by Martindale-Hubbell Peer Review and is listed in “Bests Recommended Insurance Attorneys.”  Prior to establishing Ryan & Associates, APLC, Mr. Ryan was a partner of Sparber, Ferguson, Ponder & Ryan from 1988 to 2001 and practiced with Rhoades, Hollywood & Neil from 1980 to 1988.  Mr. Ryan earned a J.D., Cum Laude, in 1980 from California Western School of Law, where he was a member of the International Law Review.  Prior to entering Law School, Mr. Ryan was an infantry officer in the United States Marine Corps.
